About

The human brain receives millions of impressions every day. However, only a tiny percentage of them is paving their way to our conscience. The actual achievement of our brain starts with connecting the single pieces of information. This is what creates new ideas, insights, and opinions.

This concept makes further circles.

By decomposing and re-combining established elements, an infinite number of new creations emerges.

In music, this phenomenon has been named “mashup”. Mashups are formed through the combination of existing songs. This does not only lead to something new. Also, the lifespan of the individual song elements is extended and lets them gain a larger audience.

Same game, different playground: the internet. An ever-increasing number of online platforms open up their application interfaces. The single building blocks are being made available for mashups, which accelerates the whole dynamic of the industry. The user can take advantage of the familiar services and interfaces in a much more diverse and customized way.

Which brings us from the story of the mashup to the mashup of stories.

How do our individual stories make it through the information noise our mind has to deal with every day? By being a part of a mashup themselves – a mashup of the actual message and the things our communication partners are dealing with every day. This can be anything from their interests, needs, up to general developments in our society. Your message needs to be able to connect and mix with other stories.

“Blending Mashine” takes a look at all sorts of stories, songs, and products that are – in a more obvious way – mashups. Enjoy, and feel free to leave your comments.
